The El Mocambo and Fender both have their roots in the post - WWII era (1948 and 1946 respectively). The Fender Custom Shop presents an exclusive Master Built paired instrument set: the Limited Edition El Mocambo Telecaster and El Mocambo Stratocaster, expertly crafted by Toronto - born Master Builder Ron Thorn. Only 25 paired sets are available. These guitars are made from 300 - year - old eastern white pine reclaimed from the rafters of Canada's most famous nightclub during its 2014 renovation. The wood was carefully checked with a metal detector to remove nails. The old - growth timbers with tight grains are light and highly resonant, making them perfect for the guitar bodies. The first - fret inlay and engraved neckplate are inspired by the iconic 22 - foot palm tree sign at the El Mocambo, which has been there since 1948. Other top - notch features include a quartersawn and roasted Canadian maple neck with a ’59 - style “D” profile, a 9.5” radius flat - laminated African blackwood fingerboard with 21 jumbo frets and a bone nut. It comes with hand - wound Josefina Campos pickups, Fat '50s 1/2 blender wiring, a Heavy Relic® lacquer finish with gold hardware, a three - ply black pickguard, a Custom Shop vintage synchronized tremolo, vintage - style tuners, and a wing string tree. Each set includes a custom El Mocambo hardshell case, a strap, a collectable case candy kit, and a certificate of authenticity. Using your Fender Custom Shop El Mocambo guitar is a breeze. First, take it out of the custom hardshell case. Adjust the tuning using the vintage - style tuners until the strings are at the right pitch. When you start playing, the unique pickups will give you a great sound. The hand - wound Josefina Campos pickups are designed to produce rich tones. You can experiment with different pickups to get the sound you like. For example, the Texas Special™ Single - Coil Strat® at the bridge gives a bright and punchy sound. As for maintenance, keep your guitar in a dry and cool place. After playing, wipe the strings with a soft cloth to remove sweat and dirt. This will keep the strings in good condition and prevent rust. You can also use a specialized guitar polish on the body to keep the Heavy Relic® lacquer finish looking great. When not in use, always put the guitar back in the hardshell case to protect it from scratches and damage. Also, be careful when adjusting the tremolo. Make small adjustments at a time to avoid throwing the guitar out of tune. And don't forget to check the frets regularly for any signs of wear. If you notice any issues, it's best to take it to a professional guitar technician.
